Inspection Guidance
 
This is where we inspect and approve the building work carried out on site.  You or your builder will need to inform us when the work reaches certain stages (please see the list below), so that we can visit the site and inspect the work.
 

 
Please remember that the type and complexity of your project will determine the number of inspections required.  Your surveyor will inform you if they require additional site visits. 
 
These site visits will ensure that the building work is monitored for compliance with the Building Regulations. Once work has finished on-site in accordance with the Building Regulations you will receive a Completion Certificate.  (see completion certificates)
 
Notice Time Construction Stage
48 hours Commencement of work
24 hours Inspection of excavations for foundations
24 hours Foundations concreted
24 hours Oversite preparation prior to concreting
24 hours Damp Proof Course (DPC)
*24 hours *First Floor Joists
24 hours Drains Laid, prior to backfilling
Within 5 days    Drains on test
*24 hours *Roof construction in place & including Loft Conversion before structural timbers are covered
Within 5 days Occupation of Building
Within 5 days Completion of Work
 
*These are non-statutory inspections

The notice time does not include Saturdays, Sundays, Bank or Public Holidays.
