Building Notice Fees:
This is payable when a building notice is deposited. A building notice is not considered valid until payment is made. A building notice charge is the same as the full plan charge plus the inspection charge.
Full Plans Fees:
This requires payment of the plan charge at the same time as the application is given. A full plans application is not legally deposited until the payment is received. The applicant will normally be invoiced for the inspection charge after the first inspection has been carried out.
Regularisation Fees:
This must be accompanied by the appropriate form, which is charged at a rate of nominal fee payable had the works not otherwise already been carried out plus 20% (vat is not payable).
Exemptions to charges:
In certain circumstances, where work is for the sole benefit of a disabled person, fees may not be payable. A “person with disabilities” means a person who is within any of the descriptions of persons to whom section 29(1) for the National Assistance Act 1948 (as extended) applies. A certificate or letter is required from a doctor, occupational therapist or similar person, in support of an application for exemption from the charges.
Discounts for similar or repetitive work:
Discounts to the charges may be available where your application relates to works that are substantially the same as other works applied for or built by the same applicant. For this and enquires in respect of fees where the estimated cost of work exceeds £100,000 and to discuss the level of service we can provide, please contact Richard Gawthorpe, Head of Business Support, on 01603 430120 or Joan Hocking, Business Development Executive, on 01603 430140.
Further details are contained within “The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 1998” and the CNC Building Control Consultancy Joint Committee building regulations charges scheme, both of which are available for inspection at our offices.
